 About CIMS

CIMS is an internationally renowned applied research and development Centre, based in The University of Liverpool. It builds on combined strengths of sensor technology, software development, telemetry, system integration together with a unique patented approach to acquiring USEFUL information.

Conventional measurement systems fall down by producing data and not the real information you need. What is required is a new approach, one that brings together and uses complex data from more than one source, that gives you INFORMATION rather than data. An approach that is self-evaluating and predictive – Intelligent Monitoring Systems.
The work undertaken at CIMS is versatile. The Centre collaborates with companies and organisations to conduct research and develop application prototypes. Innovative solutions to problems frequently involve developing total systems. CIMS possesses comprehensive facilities which can be used to develop concepts through to commercially exploitable prototypes.
Within CIMS there is also the means to work with our partners to commercialise products through technology transfer, technology licensing, manufacture and product installation. Typical applications range from monitoring the centre of gravity of aircraft in flight; the well being of people in the living environment; the monitoring of regulated airborne pollutants to tracking changes in complex industrial processes.
